DECEMBER Caregiver of the Month Edna Swenson

Sound Options believes that exceptional care begins with exceptional employees. Each month, we highlight and share the story of one of our Certified Nursing Assistants who carries out the mission and values of Sound Options with professionalism, intelligence, and heart. This month, we shine the spotlight on Edna Swenson!

Edna Swenson moved from Missouri to Washington state in 1987. She comes from a very large family with sixteen brothers and sisters, all of which are still living. Edna grew up watching her mother, a wonderful nurse, care for others. Seeing this profession in action made a real impact on her as she was thinking about her own career. Edna would begin to care for others when she took on the care of her mentally challenged nephew. This hands-on experience confirmed her previous inclination toward caring for people in general.

“You have to have a genuine care in your heart for people", she said, “that is what makes a good caregiver.” Edna went on to say that she wants to care for her aging clients in the way that she wants to be taken care of someday. When Edna is not working, you will find her enjoying her thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild!

Since joining Sound Options at the beginning of 2008, Edna has brought comfort and a genuine hospitality into the homes of the many clients she has cared for over the years. Rebecca Herrick, the home care supervisor said, “Edna always comes through for you. Even when you need help at the last minute, you can count on her. Our clients really appreciate her and she is so wonderful at what she does. Her dedication and commitment to quality care really shows through her work. We are so lucky to have her as a caregiver.”

Thank you for all that you do Edna! We appreciate your loyalty to Sound Options and the deep heart you put into all that you do.
