JULY Caregiver of the Month

Sound Options believes that exceptional care begins with exceptional employees. Each month, we highlight and share the story of one of our Certified Nursing Assistants who carries out the mission and values of Sound Options with professionalism, intelligence, and heart. This month, we shine the spotlight on Paula Drewery!

Paula Drewery is originally from Northern California, but spent most of her life in Idaho and Utah. This New Year’s Eve will be her 16th wedding anniversary to husband Dewey who works for the United States Postal Service as well as the Army Reserves. They have 2 sons. Josh, their eldest, is 25 and just had a baby boy. Josh is working on pursing a career in Forestry at Oregon State University. Her younger son, Cody, is 19 and working while going to Olympic College full-time with a goal to get accepted to Washington State University and become an RN or P.A. Becoming grandparents has led Paula and her husband to experience a new found happiness and contentment.

Paula enjoys the opportunity to impact her clients’ lives and make a difference to them. She appreciates the chance to get to know clients and their families and become an integral part of their lives. “I love providing home care services to those who would otherwise not be able to care for themselves,” she said.

Living to serve is just part of being a good caregiver according to Paula. “When you make a positive impact in someone else’s life, you also make a positive impact in your own life. Do something that is greater than you- something that helps someone else to be happier and suffer less.” Her life philosophy is built on the idea that you are only here once. “You cannot do everything, but you can do something,” she said. “Smile and enjoy the fact that you made a difference and you’ll likely remember that forever.”

When Paula is not working, you will find her gardening, kayaking, walking her dog, Apollo, and holding her new 3-week-old grandson every chance she gets! Paula has such a dramatic impact on her clients’ lives. She is a model caregiver who takes the time to create and engage her clients in weekly activities that infuse their schedules with life and joy. From trips, to games, to events, she always has something up her sleeve. Her influence in her clients’ lives is powerful and she truly makes a difference every day.

Thank you for your passion and for the ways you carry out the Sound Options vision of caring for the whole person and increasing quality of life. We appreciate you and the contribution you make to your clients and to Sound Options!
