NOVEMBER Caregiver of the Month

Sound Options believes that exceptional care begins with exceptional employees. Each month, we highlight and share the story of one of our Certified Nursing Assistants who carries out the mission and values of Sound Options with professionalism, intelligence, and heart. This month, we shine the spotlight on Donna Begin!

Donna Begin was born in Colorado and, beginning in high school, grew up and lived in Arizona. It wasn’t until 2011 that she moved to Washington State. When she was young, Donna had an aunt who took the time to care for her quite a bit because her mother was so ill. This experience of being cared for during a difficult time made a significant impact on her. Donna told her aunt that if she ever needed the favor returned, she would gladly help her.  When Donna’s uncle called and asked if she would return to Colorado and take care of her aunt after she suffered from a stroke, Donna jumped at the chance to give the gift of care.

It was while Donna was caring for her beloved aunt that she realized this work of caring for others could be more than a one-time gift, it could be her life’s work. Donna would become a caregiver for Sound Options in February of 2012.  When asked what makes a good caregiver, Donna responded that, “It is all about enjoying what you do and loving people.” When Donna is not working, you will find her deep in a good book, up to her elbows in crafts or enjoying the company of good friends. Those things charge her up and give her energy to care for others.

Jennifer Quenette, staffing coordinator for Sound Options, said, “I can always count on Donna. She helps me with last minute shifts and I can’t remember the last time she was sick. More importantly I know she will do an excellent job wherever I send her. She is the kindest caregiver with a gentle spirit.” Thank you for the way that you represent Sound Options. You stand in the gap for others the way your aunt did for you so many years ago. You may never know the deep impact that you have on peoples’ lives. We appreciate you!
