Michael's story... My wife passed away one year ago, and I suddenly became the single father of two young children. I went from working 60-70 hour weeks, to having to cut down to 40 hours a week and try to be both parents for my children. It was a difficult time for all of us.

About a month ago, I found out I was being transferred to California. Although it was an exciting opportunity, I found myself panicking about my children and all the adjustments they would have to make. I had no idea how to completely uproot my family, move to a state where I had no outside support, and start a new job. So one night I sat down and made a list of the immediate priorities for the move. One of them was how to find quality childcare for my two year old and eight year old, in a totally new place.

At work the next day, I saw a poster advertising some kind of "Child & Family" service through the company's EAP. I took it as a sign that I needed to call. Boy, am I glad I did!

I was delighted to be connected to a child & family consultant at Sound Options, Inc. She not only sent me a great list of childcare centers, but also some informative articles on moving with children, a checklist on how to find quality childcare and some great support groups in the area where we were moving. I really felt like the consultant went above and beyond what she really needed to do for my family! I began to feel confident about the move, and was able to help my children adjust to the idea as well.

We are now living in Northern California, and I am happy to say that my children are both in a fantastic childcare. My youngest is learning Spanish, and my eight year old is able to be transported to and from the childcare center for school. We are also going to a support group for families who have lost a loved one, and I have seen tremendous strides for all of us. My whole family is adjusting well to the move, and I rest easier at work knowing they are in a fantastic childcare. Thanks Sound Options! I am glad you were there when I needed you.
