A natural outgrowth of her work as a Registered Nurse (RN), certified care manager, and private consultant for nursing, geriatrics, and medical legal reviews, Mary Lynn based her vision for Sound Options on her more than thirty-five years of hands-on experience working as an advocate for patients and families. Since its founding in 1989, she has grown the company into the largest private elder care management company in Washington State.

Mary Lynn is a well-known and resourceful voice on elder-care issues. Actively contributing to her community, she has sat on advisory boards, authored articles, presented at conferences, and conducted interviews on numerous elder care and care management topics. Her expertise and passion for quality care has made her a sought-after speaker and advisor on both the local and national level. As a member of the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers since 1990, she has sat on the board and served as president of this prestigious organization. At their national conference she was awarded the 2008 Adele Elkind award for distinguished professional service in Geriatric Care Management. Locally, she is an active volunteer, a member of Tacoma Rotary 8 Club. Additionally, Mary Lynn serves on the South Puget Sound Boys and Girls Club board and the Washington State Private Duty Association board.

Sound Options was named the second fastest growing of the Top-Ten Growth Companies in the South Sound by Business Examiner at a dinner ceremony on December 2, 2009.

The Western Region of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM), an association of over 2,000 health and human services specialists, awarded the Rose Kleiner Award to Sound Option's CEO Mary Lynn Pannen.

The Association of Washington Business (AWB) recognized Sound Options in its annual Better Workplace Awards.
