First Year Honoree Top Places to Work
Tacoma, WA (March 25, 2009) Sound Options became a first year honoree of the Business Examiner¹s Top Places to Work in the South Sound.
A dinner took place at the Sharon McGavick Conference Center at Clover Park Technical College, 4500 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, to announce the awards and honor those who received them.
Since 2005, the Business Examiner, a business publication, has recognized the Top Places to Work in the South Sound through a special program. The Top Places to Work program recognizes outstanding company cultures in the South Sound. Companies that apply completed an employee opinion survey evaluating their workplace culture in several evaluation areas. The judging process consisted of an application, a look at employee handbooks and procedures, and an employee survey that 30% of the organization was required to complete.
Research seems to indicate that trust between managers and employees is the primary defining characteristic of the very best workplaces. Trust is the essential ingredient for the primary workplace relationship between the employee and the employer. Trust is composed of three dimensions:
Credibility, Respect, and Fairness.
In a great workplace, how people are treated adds significantly to the competitive advantages available to the organization.
The survey allowed employees to comment anonymously on what made Sound Options a great place to work as well as areas in which the organization could improve.
I am honored and humbled to be receive this award on behalf of the company,² says Mary Lynn Pannen, CEO of Sound Options. ³ Quote²
The judging panel selected the top places to work in three categories:
small/medium companies with under 100 employees, large companies with over 100 employees and non-profit organizations. Additionally, organizations that rose to the top in each of the five evaluation areas were recognized.
