Sound Options believes that exceptional care begins with exceptional employees. Each month, we highlight and share the story of one of our Certified Nursing Assistants who carries out the mission and values of Sound Options with professionalism, intelligence, and heart. This month, we shine the spotlight on Karen Muigui!
Karen Muigui was born in Kenya. In 2001 she moved to the United States and settled in Atlanta, Georgia. She initially moved there for her mom and decided to say. Karen worked in an assisted living facility for 6 years. When the company was sold, she went to work for her mom for 3 years. In 2010 she married and moved to Seattle, Washington. Karen worked in homecare in Bellevue, Washington for 3 years before coming to work for Sound Options. Though Karen calls the Northwest home, it was back home in Kenya that she first found her calling as a caregiver. Karen took care of her grandmother and the experience shaped her sense of what she wanted to do with her life.
When she was asked what makes a good caregiver Karen said that it is so important to be yourself and do your work from your heart. She arrives at her client’s homes with a generous amount of patience and a listening ear.
A simple ‘Thank you’ let’s me know I’m doing a good job and ‘Glad to see you’ keeps me going,” she said.
When Karen is not working you’ll find her spending time with her husband. She loves to play pool and hang out with friends. Staffing coordinator, Jennifer Quenette said, “Karen is extremely sweet and willing to help whenever possible.” Thank you for working from your heart. We are lucky to have you on our team of caregivers.
