Are you looking for a beach vacation but you want to stay in the state? Put your feet in the sand at Ocean Shores, a lovely and cozy beach community on the Washington coastline. Seniors can enjoy long walks among surfers, sand-castle builders, kite-fliers, and sun bathers. This slow paced community has nearly something for every type of traveler.
Only a scenic 2-hour drive from Tacoma, Ocean Shores is a great weekend (or weekday) getaway. There are many options for lodging along the beachfront (we recommend a room facing the water!). Food choices are plentiful, as well as entertainment (there is even a Casino nearby).
There are a number of events held in Ocean Shores over the summer months. While some events happen nearly every weekend (Summerfest at Oyhut Bay and the Ocean Shores Beach Blast), other notable events, such as the Sand and Sawdust Festival, draw larger crowds periodically throughout the summer. If you do visit Ocean Shores and you can’t make it to a festival or event, make sure you watch the sunset over the horizon – it is a beautiful sight to see.
