SEPTEMBER Caregiver of the Month

Sound Options believes that exceptional care begins with exceptional employees. Each month, we highlight and share the story of one of our Certified Nursing Assistants who carries out the mission and values of Sound Options with professionalism, intelligence, and heart. This month, we shine the spotlight on Kemberly Michaels.

Kemberly Michaels moved all around Washington State as a teen and has lived in Tacoma for over 35 years. She is married with two grown children. After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University, she worked in the non-profit sector most of her career.

“When my son was injured in a work-related accident”, she said, “I learned ‘on-the-job’ how to advocate for someone seriously incapacitated and unable to speak for himself."

It was during this time I earned my caregiver certification in order to care for him in his home. Since then, I have gone on to care for many interesting people from all walks of life with a variety if healthcare needs.”
When asked what she enjoys about her job, she said, “I enjoy the art of caregiving because it allows me to use my skill, heart, and creativity to enable my clients to meet their daily healthcare challenges. I think a good caregiver is someone who listens and acts as a positive force in order to enable their client to be able to live out their lives in the manner of their choosing.”

When Kemberly is not working you’ll find her spending the summer in her vegetable garden and busy canning, baking, and making new friends to give away zucchinis to. According to Home Care Supervisor,Rebecca Herrick, “I cannot thank Kemerbly enough for everything she does for our clients. Sound Options genuinely appreciates you!"
